Instructors and staff can request a WordPress site for their course, shop or research area. WordPress can be used for online or blended course delivery, or to host blogs, portfolios, media galleries, information, artwork documentation etc.

Tutorials: If you want to learn how to get started building your own WordPress blog, LinkedIn Learning has a great introduction to WordPress video series + a well of other quality tutorials.

Log into LinkedIn Learning with your Emily Carr login. You might be prompted to create a profile, but this is not necessary. For more information See the Library's information page on using LinkedIn Learning.

What to expect

Going forward, WordPress will be jointly administrated by the TLC and IT. The TLC will be your main contact for assistance with site building and utilizing WordPress for course delivery, while IT will be handling hosting and login.

With our new instance of WordPress we can finally use the block-editor, up-to-date plugins, tools and themes. The only downside is that we will no longer support legacy themes or the classic editor.

This means your current ECU site will have to be re-designed within one of the available block themes. This might seem burdensome for some of you, but the Teaching and Learning Centre is prepared to assist you in this process to make the transition as smooth as possible.

Training and Support

If you are new to the block editor or feel you need a brush-up on WordPress we are launching an all-new resource page and we are planning workshops this spring and summer to get everyone up to speed. You can always book a consultation or 1:1 training with us at the TLC.
