Landon Mackenzie received the prestigious 2017 Governor General Award in Visual and Media Arts. Her large format paintings have been widely exhibited in Canada and internationally and collected by museums, with several works in the National Gallery of Canada, Vancouver Art Gallery, Art Gallery of Ontario. Recent shows include Emily Carr and Landon Mackenzie; The Wood Chopper and the Monkey at the Vancouver Art Gallery, and Landon Mackenzie; Parallel Journey, Works on Paper (1975-2015) a retrospective touring Canada. Awards: 1st Prize at the Quebec Biennale of Painting in 1981, Golden and Diamond Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Medals and the Inaugural Ian Wallace Award for Excellence in Teaching. She became Emily Carr University’s first full professor (2008). Mackenzie holds a BFA from NSCAD and an MFA from Concordia University where she first began teaching.
