DESN 317: 3D Rendering + Viz: Output

In this course students learn to use 3d modeling and rendering of concepts and designs for screen-based visualization and digital material output. This course represents a sustained study of modeling and rendering on the screen introducing students to a wide range of rendered media and optional platforms for material production. Students learn how to model, edit, and analyze organic 3d shapes using subdivision surfacing modeling tools and free form surfacing tool sets as well as more advanced techniques for visualizing complex objects and output suitable for AR, 2d print, screen, and 3d print material production. Faculty will introduce thematic framing and students will work on a project of their choosing and, have the opportunity to import existing models from other 3D or CAD software for exploration and refinement.
