Convocation Information for Students

The Convocation Ceremony

This year's ceremony will take place at the UBC Chan Centre for the Performing Arts on Wednesday, May 8, 2024.

All emails will ONLY be sent to your EC email and will have [GRADUATION] written in the subject line. Please keep watch for these emails as you must comply with the deadlines that will be provided for each step.

Regalia from Gaspard

This deadline has passed.

Your regalia will be available at the Chan Centre on the day of the Convocation. You will collect your regalia after you have checked in for the ceremony. You will have 30 minutes after the ceremony to take photos in your regalia before you will need to return it.

    NameCoach | Name Announcement + Slide Show

    This deadline has passed.

    Students crossing the stage at graduation will have their chosen/cultural name announced at the ceremony while their name, photograph and a slide of their artwork is projected on a large screen. 

    In order to capture this information, we use an online tool called NameCoach.  Please note that your chosen/cultural name will also be used in the ceremony pamphlet, viewable by all guests of the event. Please ensure you type your name exactly the way you would like it displayed.

    Tickets

    This deadline has passed.

    Due to capacity, all graduands are eligible for only 2 tickets for family and/or friends to attend the ceremony. You as a graduate do not require a ticket. Registration for 2 tickets deadline has now passed.

    If you have guests without tickets, they can wait in the stand-by line up at the Chan Centre on May 8th from 12:30pm in case of any last-minute non-attendance.

    The Day of Convocation | Wednesday, May 8, 2024

    Student check-in: from 11:00am and no later than 12:30pm through Royal Bank Cinema (RBC) entrance

    Guests check-in: from 12:30pm through the main entrance

    Ceremony begins: 1:30pm

    Please ensure your guests have their tickets before you check-in as they are entering through a different entrance.

    The ceremony will last approx. 3 hours.

    Artona | Graduation Photos

    All graduands have the opportunity to have professional graduation photos taken at Artona, a local photography studio, at an additional cost.

    Parchments

    Parchments will be available to collect at the ceremony. If you're not attending, you will be able to collect your parchment from Student Services after May 8.
