The Vancouver Podcast Festival is coming November 8-10, 2018.

There will be live podcasts and events featuring shows like You Must Remember This, This is That, In the Dark, and The Allusionist, as well as masterclasses on interviewing, sound editing, and writing for audio. Check out the line-up here.

For a limited time, ECU students can get discounts on tickets and passes. To get a $5 discount on evening shows at the Rio, apply this discount code at checkout: VPF2018STT

This can be used for tickets to see Uncover: Escaping NXIVM, You Must Remember This, In the Dark, The Allusionist, and more! Apart from the Allusionist show, all of the Rio shows will present at least two podcasts per show.

Grow Op at the Gladstone Hotel, Toronto, celebrates in its seventh year in March 2019 an exhibition of art and design considering ENERGY; and cultivates ideas across a broad range of disciplines. Clean energy, dirty energy, social energy, positive energy, negative energy, climate energy, embodied energy, resilient energy.

Do we hoard, waste, commodify, burn it, or do we store, reuse, renew it? How humans and other species live within and without natural systems of growth, change, abundance, scarcity, decay and life.

Mobilizing the Arts for Community Connection and Change will explore art as a catalyst for sparking community imagination around belonging, trust, and social resiliency in urban centres.

The one day summit will be moderated by Emily Carr Assistant Professor, Justin Langlois, and features presentations from Emily Carr faculty, Zoe Kreye and Holly Schmidt, along with talks and workshops by artists from the wider Vancouver community including: Corey Bulpitt, Alex Grünenfelder, Carmen Papalia and Ayotzi 68.

Animation Fundraiser

Screening of a selection of the best films from the 2015 Ottawa International Animation Festival. Fundraiser includes a reception and pizza from 6:00-7:30. Screening begins at 7:30, followed by a draw for raffle prizes. Proceeds will send an ECU student to the 2016 festival.

As part of a retrospective of films edited by the renowned editor, Haida Paul, Associate Professor Peg Campbell's dramatized documentary Street Kids, on juvenile prostitution in Vancouver in the early 1980's, will be screened on Saturday, June 27. Shot entirely in still photographs, innovative animation techniques and a layered soundtrack draw attention to the lives of young people working the streets.
