Pierre Leichner ('07) will be exhibiting his work at an art exhibit at the Innovation & Integration in Eating Disorders Public Forum on the weekend of October 4th. "I am already enough" includes participants from provinical eating disorder programs.

Alumna Martha Sturdy returns to her roots with a newly-launched collection of wearable sculpture. 

After graduating from Emily Carr in 1978, Sturdy went on to gain international reputation as her bold, iconic wearable sculptures made their way onto the pages of ELLE, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, and onto runways such as Donna Karan, Oscar de la Renta, and Marc Jacobs.

David Lin | New Materials in Northern Iceland

New Materials | Nýtt Efni is a solo exhibition featuring David Lin's ('13) cumulative works in Northern Iceland at the Listhús í Fjallabyggð Art Space.

Lin likes to display a sense of humor and dedication in his works, utilizing a mixture of purpose-made or found materials either as a trace or carnate. Perhaps each of his works start out as ready-made of some natural force, and seeing something special in it, he presents the object in a new context and as new materials.

Alumnus Kevin Eastwood (’99) is an award winning filmmaker who has worked on everything from dark comedies (Fido, the 2007 movie about a boy and his pet zombie), to TV biopics (2008’s Elijah), to documentaries dealing with serious global issues (Eco-Pirate: The Story of Paul Watson in 2011, and Oil Sands Karaoke in 2013). These projects, and the many others to his credit, have found critical, commercial and financial success and made Kevin a sought-after producer and director. Still, the unprecedented success of his latest project, Emergency Room: Life and Death at VGH, exceeded all his expectations.

Kathryn Mussallem Receives Educator Scholarship From School of Visual Arts, New York

Kathryn Mussallem (MAA'08/Continuing Studies Instructor) was recently awarded the 2013 Educator Scholarship Master of Professional Studies in Digital Photography program at the School of Visual Arts New York, New York. This $20,000 USD scholarship was awarded for study in the Low Residency MPS in Digital Photography Program.

A two-time graduate of Emily Carr, BFA, (Photo) in 2000 and Master of Applied Arts, (Visual Arts) in 2008, Kathryn has been tearching photography, visual arts and digital media at the University Carr since 2005. She is an internationally published and exhibited artist in Canada, the US and the UK.

The University is proud to announce that Lisa Fraser ('10) has received the 2013 Carter Wosk BC Creative Achievement Award in the Industrial Design category for her medical assistive device, Snug Vest - an  inflatable vest that provides Deep Pressure Therapy.

The BC Creative Achievement Awards honour BC artists whose work is judged to be innovative, original and creative while having a practical function. The awards will be presented later this Fall at a formal ceremony at Shaw Studios in Vancouver.
