Registration Policy

Seats are limited per studio, so registration is first come, first served. Once you have completed your registration request, a seat will be held for you for up to 48 hours, pending payment.

Withdrawals + Refunds

• Withdrawal requests received prior to February 29th, 2025 are eligible for a tuition refund less a $35 administrative fee
• Withdrawal requests received between March 1 - June 14, 2025 are eligible for a tuition refund less a $500 administrative fee
• Withdrawal requests received June 15, 2025 onwards, are not eligible for refund.

+ Materials
You will need to source your own supplies for your studio. The cost of materials will vary by studio, but on average, you can expect to spend up to $150 in studio-specific supplies. You are welcome to use materials you already have at home. A materials list will be provided to you in your welcome package prior to the start of the program.

+ Software and Equipment
ECU will provide access to the required software, equipment and computers for on-campus courses.
Students registered for online studios are responsible for securing access to any devices required to participate in their studio. ECU will provide access to any required software(s) for the duration of the program.

+ Transportation
Students registered in on-campus studios are expected to cover their own transportation costs.

We accept Visa, MasterCard and payments through online banking at your Canadian institution. Your registration will be conditional until payment is received, or we receive a screenshot of your online banking payment confirmation.

Withdrawal Policy

We understand that sometimes plans change. Please make sure to review and understand the withdrawal policies for the Summer Institute for Teens program

We offer two SIT scholarships for students of Aboriginal ancestry.

Scholarship applications are accepted up to March 1 2024.

Application submission is now closed. Scholarship recipients will be notified by March 31, 2024. Good luck to everyone who applied!

Sometimes, due to low enrolment, a studio may be cancelled. Students registered in the cancelled studios will be contacted with information about all available studios, and can be transferred to a new studio.

ECU does not provide on or off campus accommodations, so you are responsible to find your own appropriate housing. If you are from out of town, you may choose to stay with a family member or friend, or find temporary housing with a parent or guardian for the duration of the program.

Note to parents: If your child is travelling unaccompanied to Vancouver, please be advised that students under the age of 18 must have a pre-arranged appointed custodian/guardian who will be responsible for them during their stay, in order to enter Canada. Lunch is not provided, but you have access to the food services available in or around the ECU campus. View food service options.

Additional lunch time talks and programming may be scheduled over the course of the month and students are encouraged to attend.

All classes are taught in English. If English is not your first language, you are required to be proficient in written and spoken English and be able to participate in group discussions and presentations in English.

As a guideline, we would expect you to have an IELTS score of 4.5 to 6.0 for lecture courses.

ECU Accessibility Services provides supports to the learning environment for students with speech, hearing, visual, physical, mental health and neurological disabilities as well as chronic health conditions, acquired brain injury and temporary disabilities.

If you would like to access these services, please visit the Accessibility Services page, download and complete the Accessibility Request form, and submit it to accessibility@ecuad.ca as early as possible before the course start date. Once your documentation has been received and reviewed, a Student Resource Coordinator will contact you to set up an appointment.

Yes. As an SIT student, you have access to the ECU Library as a Community Borrower.

Attendance is taken at the start of each class and when you return after the lunch break. Instructors and Programs Assistants will notify the CS Team of any student who has not arrived or returned to class within 15 minutes of the class start time.

Parents and/or guardians will be contacted to follow up on the absence if we have not received prior notice.

Parents and Guardians: If an absence is planned for any reason, please notify us as soon as possible. You can email or call us so we know where students are.

We understand that sometimes things come up. If you need to miss a class, please have your parent or guardian contact us with information about your absence, and when we can expect you back in class.

Chronic absences may affect your ability to keep up in the course and with your peers. Please talk to your instructor to make sure you aren't missing any assignments or important information about your studio!
