Design for Development will be visiting Vancity's Kitsilano 4th Avenue branch, Saturday, June 14th, to hold all-day presentations about their Bambulance, Bicycle Ambulance and other projects.

Bambulance debuted in May at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, receiving significant media and public interest. The revolutionary new prototype of their original steel-framed Bicycle Ambulance is made almost entirely of bamboo. Design Graduate students Chris Ryan (08) and Philippa Mennell (08) will take their design to Mathare.

Design for Development was founded by Niki Dun (03) and Sue Fairburn in 2006. The Bicycle Ambulance and Bambulance are designed to meet a drastic world-wide need. They are simple, sustainable and practical solutions to a critical problem. There are currently 60 Bicycle Ambulances on the ground in Namibia, saving thousands of lives.
