Maya Ersan: Anamnesis 1

Maya Ersan (03) is a visual artist working in both Istanbul and Montreal. She completed a visual installation that became a performance using shadowplay, puppets and animation in Istanbul. For approximately two weeks in September the installation was housed in a window display in a vacant, muted city that has shrunk in size. On the night of September 24th the piece became a performance that weaved together traces of memory embedded in the city, memory that had become erased, enforced, archived and confirmed. In this crowd of memories, Anamnesis 1 was a story that came out of a performance that used light and shadow.
