Gordon Smith Awarded Governor General's Award in Visual and Media Arts

Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaelle Jean presented Gordon Smith (46) with the Governor General's Award in Visual and Media Arts at Rideau Hall in Ottawa on March 25th.

Two years ago Gordon Smith was awarded BC's Audain Prize for Lifetime Achievement in recognition of his accomplishments in a career spanning more than 60 years as a painter, sculptor and printmaker. His works are in collections that include the National Gallery, the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. In 1996, he was awarded the Order of Canada.
