FVIM 417: Film/Video Production

A senior-level course built around the practical and aesthetic aspects of the student's creative process in the production of time-based senior student projects and future productions. Topics include: designing your 4th year production from concept to release; director's workbook and prep for documentary and drama, dramaturgical analysis of a dramatic script and breakdown of script for actors; advanced aesthetics and script breakdown into editing units; working with a casting director, script supervisor; post production supervision; advanced budgeting and scheduling; getting the most out of your actors; releases and contracts. The course will include presentations, technical workshops and individual meetings with students to support the production of students' dramatic, documentary, and experimental projects. Individual meetings with students will focus on the ways in which the formal and stylistic elements of the medium can be used to effectively communicate students' ideas in their work.

Priority is given to IMED students in Year 4. Students outside of the registration priority group may register/waitlist for this course as of the registration rule release date.
