GSML 637: Co-laboratory IV

This advanced seminar provides an overview of contemporary topics in transformation design with an emphasis on how transdisciplinary designers position their praxis in relationship to the more established design professions. As a methodology, what design studios have adopted transdisciplinary thinking? Where does it fit in terms of the design canon? What are the core principles? How might this specialization evolve? This course works with the Thesis Completion: Realization course to aid students' understanding of how to frame their projects in terms of larger cultural, social, economic and technological shifts. By critically reflecting on their own design processes, students become attuned to identifying emerging opportunities. The aim is twofold; to strengthen students' thesis projects and to provide a discovery learning opportunity to see what it is that makes their projects transformational
