PERF 313: Performance and Technology

This studio course focuses on the relationships between new technologies and performance. It examines how new technologies shape and shift what it means to perform live. It looks at how technologies like phones, computers, and networks ask us to perform everyday. It considers the internet's potential as a new type of stage with a new mode of liveness. Readings and exercises examine the affordances and limitations of technology in relation to bodies and liveness. Projects provide opportunities to actively explore these ideas both individually and in collaboration with other students.
