The Fight for Quebec!

description

This typographic exercise was intended to examine context and challenge our associations with established ways of visualizing content. The directive was to select written content from a well known source and visualize it in an entirely different context “breaking the seal” of what the viewer would expect to see. For this project I chose to use an article from The Beaver (now Canada’s History Magazine) on England and France’s struggle for dominance in the new world and re-imagine it as a poster series using the colourful visual language from 1980’s and 90’s wrestling icons as a jumping off point.

Clean Before You Cross: Campaign for Vancouver Coastal Health

description

This team project, with Katie Blank and Tia Blunden, for Vancouver Coastal Health, was intended to help boost hand hygiene compliance among hospital staff and visitors alike. The concept for the campaign centers around the idea of implying a physical barrier between the hospital and the outside world implying that the former is clean and the latter... not so much. When people enter the hospital, they cross a blue line that reminds them to “Clean Before You Cross” with sanitization stations close at hand to provide the necessities for compliance. Additional promotional material is used throughout the hospital to maintain the need for hand hygiene using direct language and a bit of wit to remind everyone to clean their hands.

"The Hidden Life of Coca-Cola"

description

This information graphic was designed to portray where this popular, carbonated drink comes from. As one of the largest American companies, and the largest beverage producing company in the world, I thought it would be interesting to objectively display not only the resources that are used, but where they come from, and how they are dispersed around the world. “America’s favourite beverage” has certainly been altered over the decades, changing its ingredients and practices with an ever-evolving global population.

Book cover design and illustration

images

description

I have been doing more painting for book covers rather than just finding stock images or doing a flat drawing in Illustrator. For both of these book covers, I designed the graphics in Illustrator to get client approval, then created a mixed media painting based on the Illustrator layout and using digital printouts. In the end, all was scanned in again and digitally manipulated.
