    This collection was selected from across the regions of Canada to celebrate Canadian Craft. The exhibtion travled across Canada, US and Asia.  It was the largest ever travelling curated exhibition of Canadian craft in history.

     

     

  • 1989

    The Vancouver, Gateway to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada at Yohohama's EXPO 89 was designed produced by mostly ECUAD student and faculty. As Creative Director, and in the spirit of the EXP) 89 theme-Children and Space, Sam Carter commissioned artists, designers and craftspeople to create Canadian Dolls representing Canadian youth, presented hitorical Canadian toys, information about the flora-fauna-and green spaces and resources of Vancouver, British Columbia, and Canada.

    The Canadian "Art of the Toy" Travelling Exhibition feature a diverse range of toys selected from craftspeople, designer and artists from across Canada.

     

  • 1986

    EXPO 86 changed the face and spirit of Vancouver from a sleepy oceanside village (with a symphony) and on "the edge of the world".  These changes have contributed to the diversity and richness of what is called by many: "Most Livable City in the World".  ECUAD students made up a team that helped create parades, ceremonies and national days during EXPO 86.

  • 1969

    My first major project as Exhition Designer was the Hall of Life, Ontario Science Centre. This was Ontario's Centennial Project. Architect Raymond Moriyana, and Exibition Deisgn Taizo Miake directed a team of design talent to create on the world most interactive museums.

  • 2011

    The exhibition is a collection of masks and interpretations gathered during travels throughout Asia and Pacific regions. For years, this "study collection" inspired Foundation students at ECUAD to create three-dimensional masks that reflected a diverse range of materials, colour and expression. The exhibition is traveling across BC and then abroad.

    Made in BC:Home-grownDesign explores the history of BC design from earliest times to present from all regions of BC.  This exhibition has travelled across the Province and opens at the North Vanouver from November 26th, 2011 to May 2012.  Selected designs from North Vancouver designers explore the diversity and excellence of these "home-grown" products.

    In Spring and Fall of 2011, co-curators; Associate Professor Salmah Abu Mansor, scholar and Senior Research Fellow-Institute of Ethnic Studies, National University of Malaysia, Malaysia and Sam Carter, Professor Emeritus-Emily Carr University of Art and Design, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada selected applied arts from indigenous communities across Malaysia and Canada.
