Ariane Noel de Tilly
Bio
Ariane Noël de Tilly was awarded a doctorate in Art History from the University of Amsterdam in 2011. For her doctoral research, Ariane examined the challenges of exhibiting, distributing and preserving video and film installations. From 2011 to 2013, she was a Postdoctoral Research and Teaching Fellow in the Department of Art History, Visual & Theory at the University of British Columbia. For her postdoctoral research, Ariane studied pioneer exhibitions of video art held in Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom in the mid-1970s. She is a frequent contributor to the magazine Ciel variable.
At ECUAD, in addition to teaching survey courses on modern and contemporary art, she teaches special topic courses on time-based art practices, on portraiture, on the function of culture in social movements, and on the role of art during periods of revolutionary upheaval.
