This grad project was an attempt to understand the dynamics that occur between women across cultures.  Because of the media and turmoil, there has been a gap of understanding between the West and the Middle East.  I wanted to create a one way pen pal book, similar to The Jolly Postman that would guide you through a double narrative seeing the viewpoint of those who wrote the letters.  Middle Eastern women participated and wrote on four topics given to them.  These letters were addressed to friends or family, thus creating a personal connection between the readers and writers.  This book, The Lost Letters, uses the idea of unveiling as a driving factor for the format.  This piece enables the western woman to see the Middle eastern woman that exists beyond the medias portrayal.
