PHOT 315: Dialogues with Photography

PHOT-315 Dialogues with Photography is now PRAX-300.

This third year level course for Photography Majors offers the opportunity for the students to develop their work within a critical overview of the medium of photography, both historically and in relation to contemporary art practices. Students will acquire a critical vocabulary for understanding their own trajectories and the theory and practice of photography through group critiques, discussions of pertinent writings, and individual presentations of research on a variety of subjects related to the medium. They will learn the skills related to completing projects, making presentations, (including the use of analogue and digital audio visual technologies), speaking in public, leading discussions and finally honing their research skills, using a variety of resources in pursuit of information related to their areas of inquiry. Students will meet weekly as a class for critiques of their self directed projects, discussion of assigned readings, and presentations of their research projects.
