CRAM 304 - SU01E: Ceramics: Special Topics

Course content: 

This class explores printmaking and pattern design on ceramics using a variety of historical and contemporary techniques and approaches. You will be learning how to make pattern templates, screen-print designs, linocuts, tissue transfer, mono-printing and more for ceramics. Using ceramic inks specially developed for each technique, you will be incorporating patterns, drawings, photography and designs onto your ceramics while continuing to develop skills around wheel-throwing and hand-building in clay.  Develop your personal visual language in ceramics in this combined ceramics and printmaking class. Assigned projects, presentations, demonstrations, and critiques are an integral part of this course.

Prerequisites: 

6 credits of 200 level CRAM or INDD 230

CRAM 304: Ceramics: Special Topics

Offered from time to time, this course presents complementary content to address a specific area of interest or concern within ceramics practices. It supplements regular core courses by presenting content and approaches that broaden the student's understanding of the subject area. Assigned projects specific to the area of study, presentations, demonstrations and critiques are an integral party of the course. The focus of the course is determined by the instructor.

Priority is given to CRCP and VIAR students in Years 3 and 4. Students outside of the registration priority group may register/waitlist for this course as of the registration rule release date.
