rila
video
description
rila was a collaborative project between ECUAD students Lisa Boulton and Karen Byskov. Rice paper was used with water to bind two pieces of fabric. After adding the wet rice paper the fabric pieces can be molded into a desired shape and left to dry. They can later be re-wet and molded into a new shape. One of the key objectives for the project was to connect fashion and customization with sustainable design strategies. The project was included in the Craft of Use event in London March 2014.
picnic
description
As part of a textile patterning class in my third year, we were assigned to design a blanket applying innovative patterning techniques to create a three dimensional effect on a flat surface. We were also called to draw inspiration from our environment and landscape.
Picnic is a blanket sewn with an integrated table reminiscent of a tree stump. It reflects the tension of savoring moments of appreciation in our natural environment and the physical marks that we afflict on the same environment, be it permanent alterations such as removing trees or more ephemeral fluorescent markings placed to alert.
The concept emerged as a synthesis inspired by our impromptu student picnics and visual interventions drawn from my local environment.
Sharp Shoes for Sharp People
description
"Sharp Shoes for Sharp People" were designed out of the inspiration of watching so many bands up on high stages and be at eye-level to their feet. I thought that if the closest thing the audience has to look at is the performer's feet, then why not give them some flair? The shoes were designed with that theatrical element in mind. Inspiration for the shoe designs came from architecture and pop art.
Midnight Dancer
description
"Midnight Dancer" is the jacket enhancer to transform your average looking jacket into something else! This device folds completely flat and it's shape takes form immediately from the gravitational pull of the dog chains - yes dog chains! A soul wearing this isn't looking for something "ordinary" but rather "extraodinary" and the less conventional, the better! This isn't the office we are talking, this is the nightclub where dancers where over-the-top eye-make up and disco heels so quite being such a drag and get into the groove already!

MeWe
description
MeWe is a reimagination of headphones that allow users not only to enjoy the music by themselves, but also with others, simply by flipping it over.
Type Weave
description
Typography is like fabric. It is the weaving in and out of various typefaces, weight, and spacing, to essentially form aesthetically pleasing and legible content, let it be display or body texts.
"Type Weave" is a self-directed project, which uses a metaphorical approach to help us understand the characteristics of some common typefaces. A type of fabric is juxtaposed with a typeface based on similar characteristics and attitude.
Unraveling
description
This design intends to question, explore and re-define meanings given to objects of warfare such as the gas mask.
PUFFchair
description
PUFFchair is a transformative chair made for Helene Day-Fraser's Structure and Cloth course. Centered around the idea of Hidden/Exposed, PUFFchair has a hidden internal pocket containing an air bladder which can be pulled out and inflated to a huge size.
PUFFchair transforms from an average studio chair to a snooze-inducing cloud.
#1 Fan

30 hand-printed and hand-embroidered flags, and portraits of people holding them. The flags read "I couldn't wait to get out," "I've never missed anywhere so much," and "There's no place like home." These flags were intended to explore common assosciations and feeling towards the idea of "home."
