Artificial Paradise

For the undergraduate project thesis, I wanted to do a project that is related to fashion. I’ve always been fascinated by the chemistry between graphic design and fashion since most of these projects are more flexible and creative compared to many design situations.

Through researching the current fashion industry, I noticed that the main purpose seemed to be providing designs that followed changing trends. However, it is difficult to have similar designs and target consumers to compete with the bigger brands.

Mediate

images

description

Mediate is a non-profit organization located in San Francisco. The group’s main activity is to launch the experimental art festival, ‘Soundwave’ biennially in the region. Soundwave Festival shows the different ways of expressing sound, art and music. In my third year design core class (DESN 320), the class had an opportunity to design for their new logo. My concept behind the logo was to emphasize the organization’s goal of looking beyond the surface without limitation. The concept was visually expressed as two infinite symbols were combined to create a bigger infinity loop. The connection between the signs represents both artists and audiences thinking freely to make and experience the work creatively.

Doxa was a typographical system re-brand and understanding how a company can have many faces with the same aesthetical brand. The brand touchpoints include posters, advertisement cards, bus shelters, bus ads and a twitter icon/profile.

The affect for this logo was achieved by studying the shadows of light from a cinematic perspective.
