Master of Digital Media

The Masters of Digital Media (MDM) Program is a 12-month (plus internship) full-time professional Master’s degree in entertainment technology and digital media. With input from both academia and industry, the program’s curriculum is uniquely designed to meet new and expanding digital media markets. Through team-based, industry-facing projects and a four-month internship, students develop the professional skills required to be effective creators, producers, and leaders in the digital media industry.  Also offered is the Executive Masters of Digital Media (EMDM), a part-time option for working professionals that mirrors the curriculum of the MDM Program.

MDM students and alumni come from around the globe, and from a wide range of disciplines, including the arts, social sciences, business, computer science, and engineering. Working in small teams, students collaborate on intensive, four-month projects – often with industry clients. Past clients have included top companies such as Electronic Arts, Autodesk, Microsoft, and Telefonica, as well as government and non-profit organizations. For some graduates, industry projects have turned into successful start up ventures ranging from interactive advertising technology to mobile games to games for social networks.

Offered at Vancouver's Centre for Digital Media, the Masters of Digital Media degree is jointly awarded by four partner post-secondary institutions: Emily Carr University of Art + Design, Simon Fraser University, The University of British Columbia, and the British Columbia Institute of Technology. A new Centre for Digital Media will be opening its doors in September 2012.
