Work Experience Program
Also known as co-ops and internships, these paid placements provide ECU students in their third and fourth years with the opportunity to earn academic credit while contributing to your workplace. Work Experience Programs offer placements that last for 12 weeks in the spring, summer or fall, and can be part-time or full-time. Students can assist your team on a project or in a general role.

Student Hiring Guidelines

Emily Carr Career Development + Work Integrated Learning services facilitate employment, recruitment, and artist call efforts from the creative industry for our undergraduate, graduate and alumni communities.
To access these services, you and your organization must comply with all employment standards outlined by the British Columbia Employment Standards Act, the Human Rights Code and Emily Carr University.
Please also note British Columbia’s Pay Transparency Act, which came into effect on November 1, 2023, requires transparent wages to be included on all job postings. Jobs posted without remuneration will be removed.

All student experiential opportunity postings, such as Work Experience (formerly co-ops), must be compensated according to the British Columbia Employment Standards Act’s definitions.
Emily Carr University only posts unpaid opportunities for registered charitable organizations and not-for-profit organizations, with preference given to work related to our undergraduate and master’s degrees.
