Youth + Teen Scholarships

ECU Continuing Studies is proud to offer tuition scholarships to support young artists by providing access to high-quality art education and fostering a creative community. Scholarships are available for students who identify as Indigenous or who face financial barriers that would otherwise prevent them from attending.

Note:

  • Scholarships are available for the following programs: Junior Arts Institute, Summer Institute for Teens, and Teen Art Group.
  • Scholarship applications can only be submitted when the eligible programs are open for registration.
  • You must meet the eligibility criteria to be considered for a scholarship.
  • The scholarship does not include costs for any transportation, accommodation, supplies or meals.
  • Your Scholarship application will be included as part of your overall registration application.

Junior Arts Institute

Each year, ECU Continuing Studies offers two full tuition scholarships to students who identify as Indigenous, or those with Indigenous ancestry. The scholarship does not include costs for any transportation, accommodation, supplies or meals. Attributes the Selection Committee is looking for include:

  • curiosity and open-mindedness
  • capacity for collaboration, experimentation and exploration
  • engagement with a range of media and a love of material exploration
  • a passion for art and design
  • committed to attending all scheduled sessions for the duration of the program

Age Requirement: youth 13 to 15 years of age or who successfully completed Grade 7, 8 or 9 by July 1, 2026.

Additional Information: JAI Scholarships cover a maximum of domestic early-bird tuition rate (CAD). Successful applicants are eligible to receive a Scholarship for one JAI Program Block only.

Summer Institute for Teens

Each year, ECU Continuing Studies offers two full tuition scholarships to students who identify as Indigenous, or those with Indigenous ancestry. The scholarship does not include costs for any transportation, accommodation, supplies or meals. Attributes the Selection Committee is looking for include:

  • curiosity and open-mindedness
  • capacity for collaboration, experimentation and exploration
  • engagement with a range of media and a love of material exploration
  • a passion for art and design
  • committed to attending all scheduled sessions for the duration of the program

Age Requirement: teens 16 to 18 years of age or who have successfully completed Grade 10, 11 or 12 by July 1 2026.

Additional Information: SIT Scholarships cover a maximum of domestic early-bird tuition rate (CAD)

Teen Art Group

ECU Continuing Studies, in partnership with the Vancouver Art Gallery, offers 4 full tuition scholarships for students with Indigenous ancestry or those who face financial limitations that would otherwise prevent them from attending. The scholarship does not include costs for any transportation, accommodation, supplies or meals.

Are you someone who is interested in:

  • what goes on behind-the-scenes in a public gallery?
  • connecting with curators, artists, and cultural practitioners? 
  • experimenting with materials and making?
  • developing your artistic expression and voice as young creative?

Age Requirement: youths 15 to 18, or who will be entering Grades 10, 11 or 12 in Fall 2025
