Infant mortality due to diarrhea continues to be a problem in remote areas of developing countries. BCIT has been researching this problem for some time and asked the Health Design Lab to contribute to the project by designing communication materials as well as redesign the mobile testing kit.
The resulting project was an interesting
collaboration for communication and interaction design students Hailey
Kolenda and Pablo Quintero. Together they researched existing
technologies, interviewed various health care professionals and tested
the final protoypes. The resulting design (pictured above) reconsiders
testing procedures and allows for the easy transportation of some quite
sophisticated technology. The project is ongoing.
