Screened Smiles

In Screened Smiles, I stage photographs of seemingly intimate scenes of young women engaging with each other and their smartphones.

These images give the illusion of a place filled with personal secrets and bonds only shared by the group of women. However, the omnipresence of phones highlights that there is often no “behind the scenes” for my generation, as everything is shared with the public.

About the Artist

I am interested in sparking a dialogue about authenticity and the societal pressures of happiness. With the subtleties of body language, facial expressions and the female connection, I aim to understand those emotional complexities in this era.
