Work Integrated Learning

As part of our Work Integrated Learning program, ECU offers co-op opportunities. In order to be eligible to apply, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Currently enrolled in one of Emily Carr's undergraduate programs
  • Successfully completed all second year courses
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Minimum of 3 Open Studio Elective credits available in their program for every semester of the co-op

Co-op integrates classroom learning with periods of paid professional opportunities to enable students to apply their knowledge and skills. Students receive course credits toward their degree for successfully completed experience.

Our students can assist a Co-op Partners' short- or long-term needs by undertaking specific projects, or by providing general assistance to ease workload pressures on full-time employees. A wide range of partners, including large and small businesses, non-profit organizations and the public sector, hire our students. Through Emily Carr University, Co-op Partners have access to bright and talented art, design, and media students. The experience also allows an organization to recruit, train, and assess potential future talent.

Co-op opportunities are available to third and fourth year undergraduate students. Opportunities can be full-time or part-time in summer, spring, and fall semesters. If you are a prospective Co-op Partner and wish to post an opportunity, go to: Artswork Criteria + Submission Guidelines
