WHAT IS THE OneCard?
Your OneCard is your new ID card, and is required to access our new
campus facilities. You must upload your image to the OneCard by August 29 in order to be able to access the new campus facilities and studios.

Unsettling Colonial Gender Boundaries at Queer Arts Festival

Third year ECU Visual Arts student Lacie Kanerahtahsóhon Burning will be co-curating Unsettling Colonial Gender Boundaries with June Scudeler for Queer Arts Festival in partnership with Vancouver Indigenous Media Arts Festival. Unsettling Colonial Gender Boundaries is the media art component of the festival that will feature commissioned works by ECU alumna Thirza Cuthand and Chandra Melting Tallow, as well as past work by Kent Monkman and Raven Davis. After the show, Lindsay Nixon, Indigenous Editor-at-large for Canadian Art will moderate a panel discussion.

We need your drawings for this exciting and one of a kind collaborative art project! The project originated in North Vancouver but participation is open to anyone in the world. People can write the text in the language of their choice. We already have the website translated in French and are working on the Chinese and Spanish version.

Scott Mallory (MFA '17) will show two video works for a large screen presentation at the Biennial Project's ArtVenice Biennale IV reception held in Venice, Italy during the Opening/Press Week of The Venice Biennale 57 in May 2017.

His work was shown among their online audience of over 40,000, and the screening is juried by artists who have shown in recent Venice Biennales, including Nigol Bezjian, Agrelia Bravo, Binelde Hyrcan, George, Camille, Camille Zakharia and Togmidshiirev Enkhbold. The works selected are "Inverted Universe" (2015) and "REM" (2016). "REM" was originally created for the TED2016 "Dream" Conference, has shown internationally, and will be featured in an upcoming special edition of ACS Magazine which has an international readership of 220,000.

Scott Mallory (MAA ‘17) was selected to attend TEDGlobal 2017: Builders. Truth-tellers. Catalysts. in Arusha, Tanzania this August.

It is an annual four-day TED conference “celebrating ingenuity by exploring ideas, innovation and creativity from all around the world.” As Licensee and Founder of TEDxECUAD, he will participate in a special TEDx workshop hosted the day before the event for building community and creating TED-like experiences through future TEDx Talks events. In addition to live TED Talks, the event involves other community workshops, local tech clusters, social enterprises and art spaces.

Opus Art Supplies has opened a new location In Coquitlam to help serve Emily Carr University students living in the Burnaby-New Westminster-Coquitlam triangle. Located near IKEA at 953 Brunette Avenue, the Coquitlam store has all the products and services you would expect in an Opus store, plus free parking and easy transit accessibility.

Emily Carr students receive the preferred student discount at all seven Opus locations upon presentation of their ECU Student Card.

The Stephen A. Corcoran Memorial Award was created and funded by Stephen’s family and friends to honour his creative and artistic legacy by providing encouragement and removing financial barriers for Emily Carr students who have been medically diagnosed as having a significant and chronic mental health condition/disorder. This annual award has a value of $1,000.

Scott Mallory's (MAA '17 candidate) video work will show at the Museum of Israeli Cinema in Jerusalem at Cinema City complex for AVI 2016 (Art Video International) as part of Hamshushalayim, an annual four-week culture festival taking place throughout the city during December.
