Scott Mallory | Smithsonian NMAAHC Museum Collection and Grand Opening

Scott Mallory (MAA '17 candidate) created a custom soundscape for the Mothership (Capsule) sculpture, a collaboration with Jefferson Pinder acquired by the newly opened Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington DC. It is the only national museum devoted to African American life. Now showing for the grand opening, where Barack Obama was a guest of honor, the piece is an abstracted replica of the NASA Mercury space capsule made of wood salvaged from Obama's first inauguration platform.

Originally created for the TED2016 Conference, MAA candidate Scott Mallory's video work REM will show at the Zhou Brothers Art Center in Chicago, which is dedicated to "facilitating cultural dialogue by organizing contemporary art exhibitions and programs of international scope."

Mobilizing the Arts for Community Connection and Change will explore art as a catalyst for sparking community imagination around belonging, trust, and social resiliency in urban centres.

The one day summit will be moderated by Emily Carr Assistant Professor, Justin Langlois, and features presentations from Emily Carr faculty, Zoe Kreye and Holly Schmidt, along with talks and workshops by artists from the wider Vancouver community including: Corey Bulpitt, Alex Grünenfelder, Carmen Papalia and Ayotzi 68.

TEDxECUAD is a TEDx event happening on March 25, 2017, that is co-branded with Emily Carr University of Art + Design. Our team will be operating out of Emily Carr University as a School Club.

The team is composed of students and volunteers, and we're looking to grow in preparation for the event!

We are actively recruiting volunteers in all ranges of availability who have skill sets in: Communication, Marketing Sponsorships, Budgets Video, Audio Production Event Production or Curation Design. Reminder about Waitlists for Credit Students

This is an important message regarding Waitlists for Credit Students:

If a registered person drops a class, the first person on the waitlist gets notified via their Emily Carr email that they have “permission to register”. This permission is valid for a limited time. If you do not register before the time limit expires, your name will be removed from the list and the space will be given to the next student.

As of August 22, 2016, you now have one (1) day to register for a course afer receiving your email notification.

Be sure to check your Emily Carr email daily!

Contest | Design Kit and Ace's Shopping Bag

You may submit up to three designs for the chance to have your design seen worldwide. The jury will award $2,000 each to their top 10 favourites with the Grand Prize Winner receiving $5,000!

TELUS Wrap Competition | UPDATE

Emily Carr University is excited to partner with TELUS to offer students and emerging alumni the opportunity to showcase artworks as box wraps as part of the new fibre optic system being installed across Vancouver. The winning artist or designer will receive $250 for each artwork selected. Students may submit more than one work.
