emilee guilfoyle is an unsettled queer woman, emerging writer, and theorist-in-training. She was born, and resides on Coast Salish Territories, specifically, the Musqueam (xʷməθkʷəy̓əm), Squamish (Sḵwx̱wú7mesh), and Tsleil-Waututh (səl̓ilwətaɁɬ) Nation, or commonly known as Vancouver, BC. Her artistic practice consists of exploring the materiality of the land through artistic methodologies. Through using a variety of enviro-friendly printmaking, and collage techniques, she is involved in the process of repurposing man-made materials to resemble something that is visually natural.

Lyndsay is currently working towards transforming sculptural materials and fragments into a gestalt of cellular viscerality — a series of biomorphic landscapes evocative of pathogenic growths, plant organisms and marine bacteria. She is further interested in post-human concepts of the biologization of the machine, and how the intersection of biology and architecture can reimagine life on cellular and subcellular levels; thus, mapping the constantly evolving dependencies that exist between objects, bodies and environments.

Through the intimacy of artist books and installation, Mirela explores the relationships between architecture, the body and its environmental interventions. In her installation work, Mycelium (2019), her delicate paper sculptures mimic fungal growths and organic shapes which impose a confrontation with the viewers body in space. In her book media work, Mirela experiments with the sculptural qualities of bookmaking, with themes of decay, knowledge, and growth.

Lyrica creates abstract minimalistic paintings that utilize raw linen and the manipulation of line to create intricate fields of ambiguous patterns. The resulting compositions are diaphanous and tend to call up notions of plant life and the microscopic world. Both Foliose (2020) and Parallels (2020) employ a layering of these lined forms creating imagery resembling the growth of lichen — a composite organism that arises from the mutualistic relationship between a bacteria or algae and fungus — which are a common sight throughout the ecosystems of the Pacific Northwest.
