Artist Talk + ASMR Workshop | Erin Gee

In this workshop Erin will go over her work in affective music making, foregrounding a brief history of the social media performance practice of Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR), its aesthetic principles and performance techniques.
About Erin Gee
Through her practice in vocal composition, biofeedback systems, ASMR, networked performance, VR, AI and robotics, Montreal-based artist Erin Gee combines music, art-science and performance art into works that foreground unconscious and affect-driven experience.
Inspired by the physiology of emotion, hypnotism, feminist theory, musicology, and the placebo effect, she is a DIY expert in affective biofeedback, developing open-source technologies that implicate the body of the listener into her cybernetic systems in place.
Her work has been shown at venues such as ISEA2022 (Barcelona), MacKenzie Art Gallery (CA), Akousma Festival (CA), LEV Festival (ES), MUTEK (CA/ES/AR), Toronto Biennale (CA), and Ars Electronica (AT).
RESONANCE is a new series of artist talks co-organized by the Photo and New Media + Sound Arts programs at Emily Carr University.
