Join Fillip and New York–based artist David Reinfurt on Saturday, May 25, at Noon at the COMD Studio, Emily Carr University of Art + Design for a six hour lecture performance presented in collaboration with the Ian Gillespie Faculty of Design + Dynamic Media.

Designed to provide a general yet rigorous graphic design education for students of all backgrounds and levels, Reinfurt will compress three semesters of his Princeton University graphic design curriculum into six 45-minute lectures (with breaks in between). Through a series of in-depth historical case studies that synthesize the pragmatic with the experimental, this lecture builds on mid- to late-twentieth-century pedagogical models to create a practical guide to understanding and shaping the increasingly networked world of information and design.

Reinfurt’s lecture forms the basis of an upcoming book of the same name published co-published by Inventory Press, Los Angeles, and Distributed Art Publishers, New York.

David Reinfurt is an independent graphic designer and writer based in New York City. Reinfurt worked as an interaction designer with IDEO, San Francisco, from 1995–97. In 2000, Reinfurt formed O-R-G inc., a flexible graphic design practice composed of a constantly shifting network of collaborators. Together with graphic designer Stuart Bailey, Reinfurt established Dexter Sinister in 2006. In 2012 Reinfurt, Bailey and Angie Keefer established The Serving Library, a non-profit publishing organization and journal.

Reinfurt began teaching at Princeton University in 2010 after posts at Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, the Rhode Island School of Design, and Yale University School of Art. His work has been exhibited widely and is included in the permanent collections of the Walker Art Center, Whitney Museum of American Art, Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum, and the Museum of Modern Art. Muriel Cooper, a book about the pioneering designer he co-wrote with Robert Wiesenberger, was published by MIT Press in 2017.
