Libraries and librarians are often asked to talk about information literacy and how to determine what good sources of information are. Since the election of Donald Trump, the term “fake news” has become a term used by Trump to delegitimize news sources that challenge his policies or statements. Unfortunately, his tactic of dismissing news sources and weaponizing information has become increasingly popular and this is something that also plays out in the current Israel/Palestine conflicts.

Because of the sad state of Canadian media in general, with years of layoffs, closures and monopolies in regional newspapers, we do not have many reliable news sources about the Israel-Palestinian war, which exacerbates this issue. We welcome you to join us at the library for this workshop and discussion about this topic.
