Phillip Carpenter is a multidisciplinary artist and designer. His work spans a variety of mediums that include photography, video, sculpture, digital image-making, and virtual reality. With a strong association to photography, his work has explored different concepts of interaction ranging from traditional portraiture, the interaction of people, the meaning of objects, the physical artifacts of touch, and the explorations of perception within both physical and digital environments. Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, Phillip currently teaches at the University of Washington. He has a Master of Fine Art as well as a Master of Design from the University of Washington.
