How does digital reading shape the way + what we learn?

*Author in attendance this session*

Join us this Wednesday at lunch time on Zoom as Dr. Jenae Cohn discusses how digital reading experiences impact learning abilities. Grounded in the issues of equity and access surrounding reading as students increasingly interact with their texts through digital means, she advocates for understanding how, when, and in what form, our students read in order to teach effectively.

Dr. Cohn uses research from fields such as cognitive psychology, neuroscience, and learning science to help us learn how we can scaffold and frame effective reading approaches for our students, offering practical strategies and activities to get students interacting with their assigned readings, adaptable to digital or print resources.

Her book is a practice-based exploration of how students' reading has changed with digital devices, and what we can gain from new ways of accessing and indexing information. She offers insight into what to consider when choosing readings on online platforms, and provides practical ways to use the online reading environment effectively.

Note: While the session is scheduled from 11:30am-1pm, please feel free to leave early if you have afternoon class at 12:30
