How can socially engaged practices and community-engaged art offer perspectives and methodologies that allow us to better respond to our complex world? How does the scope of social practice in art + design adapt to emergent crises?
By thinking through these questions, the Faculty of Culture + Community at Emily Carr University presents the Social Practice + Community Engagement (SPACE) Symposium.
Join us Oct. 25-30 for a series of panel discussions, participatory workshops and creative research presentations that explore a variety of themes and approaches that are relevant to the field of socially engaged creative practices. The goal of the symposium is to highlight current and innovative social and community-based practices while focusing on artists and designers who navigate and articulate relationships to the land, the city, and diverse communities as central methodologies in their work.
Reserve your space (it's free!) via Eventbrite. Get more info via the Faculty of Culture + Community.
Supported by a SSHRC Institutional Grant.
