About Steven Beckly
Steven Beckly is a Chinese-Canadian photographic artist residing in Tkaronto/Toronto. Cultivating a visual language of light and colour, Beckly explores the continuum of intimacy by creating multidimensional images, objects, and environments. Through immersive gallery exhibitions, public art projects, and playful publications, Beckly’s practice considers the social dynamics between the individual and the collective.
Recent solo exhibitions include: Daniel Faria Gallery, Toronto (2020); Stride Gallery, Calgary (2020); and Centre3, Hamilton (2019). Beckly’s work has been featured in exhibitions at the Doris McCarthy Gallery at the University of Toronto, Scarborough; Remai Modern, Saskatoon; the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal; and The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Beckly holds an MFA from the University of Guelph and a BSc in Psychology from the University of Toronto. He is represented by Daniel Faria Gallery, Toronto.
