COMD 305: Publication Design and PRNT 322: The Book as Object are hosting a joint exhibition and catalogue launch in the main concourse and the library, celebrating the work of students from both classes.

The Superluminous catalogue is a collection of limited-edition artists’ books that students in PRNT 322: The Book as Object have created on the theme of “sun” using a variety of methods such as cyanotype, anthotype, photography, risograph, letterpress and digital printing.

Displayed in the library alongside Superluminous is The Cloud Project, featuring print and digital publications designed by the students of COMD 305: Publication Design, responding to the theme of “cloud.”

Designed by COMD 305 students and featuring artists’ books created by PRNT 322 students, the catalogue serves as an archive, allowing publication design students to explore a range of publication modes.

Together, the work of these two classes joins in conversation within this exhibition, highlighting the ways different communities comprise publishing networks and, in turn, how publishing projects can form communities. The exhibition explores the transformation of the printed book into a physical object that invites viewers to engage in a sensory experience.

The exhibition will be displayed outside the library and will run from December 3rd to 9th.

All events are open to the public, and everyone is welcome.

There will also be a guided tour of these projects hosted by CORE 300, featuring publications produced by third-year students on December 3 at 2pm.
