In this talk, the speaker will be sharing their connection to the pluriverse, as it relates to their creative practice as a science communication illustrator & designer. They aim to explore themes of centering relationality, addressing friction between worlds & collective action in practice.
Bio:
Alana McPherson (she/they) is an interdisciplinary artist and designer, with a creative practice that falls in the intersection of natural sciences, visual art & communication design. Their work is supported, in part, by an educational background in Biology (BScH, 2021, University of Victoria) and Visual Communication Design (CS, 2022, Emily Carr University of Art & Design). McPherson is guided by an interest in the contemporary transformation of visual communication design as a tool, particularly in shaping collective understandings of relationality, to enrich the health and well-being of present, and future socio-ecological systems.
