The Commons Fall 2015: Land/Place | Maps/Mark-Making
Explore a week of participatory activities, events and installations.
For one week each semester, Emily Carr's Concourse Gallery is transformed into The Commons. Part prototype, part program, The Commons is made up of a kit of modular parts, including spatial, temporal, and creative resources, intended to cultivate dynamic spaces for teaching, learning, and social gathering.
In consideration of the land on which we work and the places we cultivate in and around campus, the Fall 2015 of The Commons will explore notions of land and place in relation to our current and future campuses. Through a series of participatory activities, this weeklong exhibition will invite students, faculty, and staff to imagine new ways to gather, move, and create together. The Commons will feature workshops, projects, events, and course-based installations and interventions from Student Services and Emily Carr Students' Union, the Leeway, the Library’s Artists’ Books Co-op Students, and faculty members Randy Lee Cutler, David MacWilliam, Lucie Chan, Glen Lowry, Cameron Cartiere, and Creatives with Intent.
