The Basically Good Media Lab is pleased to invite you to a Volume LED Studio Workshop for faculty and students taking place in the Integrated Motion Studio, in the northeast corner of Level 1 at ECU.

A 20-minute workshop will begin every hour, on the hour, with time for questions and selfies afterward.

A few quick facts about Virtual Production (VP):

Technologically speaking — VP is an area of real-time digital cinema workflow that integrates computer-generated assets at different stages of the production process. It includes real-time animation and compositing via motion capture and the use of a green/blue screen or LED wall with advanced camera tracking.

How this changes film production — LED screens allow filmmakers to create live action backgrounds without being on location. Actors and filmmakers are on virtual sets prompting both to think differently about what is possible with these new technologies. Virtual Production reduces set construction costs and cuts down on carbon emissions.

What it means to the ECU Community — Faculty can create new curriculum using this equipment to train students. Student projects can be supported with this new equipment after they’ve been trained in their classes or through project internships. Faculty, staff and students can use the equipment as a makerspace for creative projects, shared programming, or high profile collaborations with industry.
