Canada's Top Ten Film Festival Celebrates Homegrown Talent

Now in 16th year, Canada’s Top Ten Film Festival celebrates and promotes contemporary Canadian cinema and raises awareness of Canadian achievements in film.

TIFF’s 16th annual Canada’s Top Ten Film Festival has announced this year's selection of leading filmmakers, which include works by four Emily Carr alumni! The festival celebrates and promotes contemporary Canadian cinema and raises awareness of Canadian achievements in film.

Watch for features by Kevan Funk (Hello Destroyer) and Ann Marie Fleming (Window Horses). And, shorts by Emily Kai Bock (A Funeral for Lightning), featured in the Canada's Top Ten Shorts Programme 2, and Jessica Tai (Bumby the Barely-Witch), featured in Canada's Top Ten Student Shorts Programme.

The Festival includes public screenings of the top 10 Canadian features, shorts, and student shorts of 2016, as chosen by a national panel of filmmakers and industry professionals. These films will be accompanied by introductions and Q&As with the film’s directors. All film-goers will have the opportunity to vote for the Canada’s Top Ten Film Festival’s People's Choice Award winner.

Canada's Top Ten Film Festival runs January 13 - 26, 2017 at the TIFF Bell Lightbox, and will tour nationally at various locations through May. Watch for it in Vancouver at Pacific Cinematheque, January 13-22!
