Timbertown Tales: Chester Gets a Pet! features creations by Beaumont, illustrated by Cheek.

The Alumni Relations Office recently had the pleasure of speaking with alumni Judson Beaumont (85’) and Breanna Cheek (14’) who collaborated on a new book called Timbertown Tales: Chester Gets a Pet! (published by Mckellar & Martin, Joanna Karaplis is co-author of the book).

If you have been to the Eastside Culture Crawl, an annual visual arts, design & crafts festival that takes place each November, you are no stranger to Judson Beaumont. He is the founder of Straight Line Design Inc. and his studio inside the famous 1000 Parker Street building is a must-see for Culture Crawl visitors where is renowned for creating one-of-a-kind, whimsical furniture pieces and installations. This new book features some of Judson’s most-loved pieces.

Breanna Cheek is a Vancouver-based 3D artist, illustrator, filmmaker, and a self-proclaimed “Jill-of-all-trades.” Whether wielding a pencil or a mouse, she is never one to shy away from new artistic challenges, and is delighted to be illustrating and designing her first book.

We are pleased to share their thoughts on the new book, experiences at Emily Carr, and professional insights.
