Viktor brings a deep range of experience in post-secondary finance with him to Emily Carr.

Emily Carr University is pleased to announce the appointment of Viktor Sokha as Vice-President of Finance and Administration. This key executive role provides strategic financial leadership and direction to the university, and fosters excellence in planning, operations and oversight throughout ECU’s facilities and financial services.

“I am delighted that Viktor will be joining us as our new VP Finance and Administration,” says ECU President Gillian Siddall. “Viktor’s broad experience in post-secondary education, which includes financial policy development, risk management and institutional transformation, is a welcome addition at a crucial time for Emily Carr’s growth. I know he will be a driving force for both innovation and sustainability at our university.”

Viktor’s deep and diverse track record speaks to his ability to manage complex systems and organizations while realizing the goal of operational effectiveness and efficiency. Throughout six years at Langara College as their CFO and VP of Administration and Finance, he supported expansive capital projects and led the implementation of a new enterprise resource planning system.

Prior to Langara, Viktor spent seven years with the Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology (MITT), where he served as their Associate VP Finance and Administration and Secretary/Treasurer to the Board. During his time there, he led significant capital and IT projects, supported the institute’s growth as it transitioned from Winnipeg Technical College to MITT, and assisted in expanding its international department.

Viktor is a certified management accountant, and holds an MBA as well as a degree in mechanical engineering from Lviv Institute of Management in Ukraine.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the team at Emily Carr University,” Viktor says. “ECU is a world leader among universities teaching art and design, and I am very excited to begin working with everyone toward the realization of their goals as a community and as an institution.”

Viktor will begin his appointment on May 9, 2022.
