Iconic borrows Greek mythology and recreates its icons through a modern queer context. Real people in the queer/drag community modelled as the gods while this install worships home altars, identity expression, sexuality, and museum ritual spaces.
About the Artist
Sam Schembri is a queer artist and transfer student from the University of Alberta. Their inspirations come from the queer communities they are involved in and their research regarding identity, gender, sexuality, and Greek Antiquity.
