ECU’s Human Resources is seeking submissions for artwork.

The Human Resources (HR) department at Emily Carr University wishes to purchase an existing artwork for a permanent collection and display in the HR Office at ECU. The selected artwork will also be reproduced as a limited-edition print and gifted to long-service employees who have achieved milestones in years of service as part of ECU’s Long-Service Recognition Program.

$1,500 will be awarded for the selected art piece.

ECU students who are interested in participating are invited to submit new or existing work for a juried review. Feel free to submit multiple works that you believe meet the selection criteria.

Selection Criteria

The jury will be seeking work that reflects and interprets, in a celebratory way, the rich and diverse nature of our university. The content/theme should reflect a relationship with space and time, and should align with ECU’s vision and values.

As you reflect on, and seek to express, the journey we’re all on together to make ECU a more respectful and inclusive place of learning, here is a snapshot of some key university milestones:

1978 - Designated a provincial institute

1980 - Moved to Granville Island

1994 - A second building on Granville Island opened

2006 - Emily Carr launches a Master of Applied Arts degree

2008 - The school is granted university status

2010 - The Aboriginal Gathering Place is established

2013 - The Master of Design degree is launched

2014/15 - Canadian Research Chairs approved

2015 - The university officially breaks ground for a new campus

2017 - The university campus moves to Great Northern Way
