Hope there's no hate in heaven.

Counselling and Wellness team
Counselling, Wellness and Accessibility Services stands in solidarity with other Asians, BIPOC, and our white allies against the hatred and violence towards Asian women. We recognize the increase in anti-Asian violence and hatred across North America, and see this as part of the historical systemic pattern of white supremacy + violence against women + racialized misogyny + the exoticization and fetishization of Asian women. We grieve and mourn with those impacted by this horrific act.

Eva Bouchard
These violent, cowardly acts of racially-motivated and gender-based violence remind us of how far we have to go to reach any sort of equality in our society. We must all remain vigilant and speak/act out whenever we encounter racism or hate in our lives. Sending wishes comfort and peace to the families and friends of those whose lives have been stolen through this senseless, violent act, and all of the others we've witnessed the past few years.

to my korean sisters: make sure to take care of yourselves during this time. we are not just holding our own grief and pain, but everyone else's around us. reach out to each other, check in on our mothers and grandmothers and aunties. we know we're not immune in vancouver; we've been feeling the increase in aggression and racism for a year now. just know that you are loved, valued, and worth protecting. 삼가 고인의 명복을 빕니다.

Ashiya Khan-Sequeira
I stand in solidarity with the Asian and Pacific Islanders community.
