With Visa Application Centers (VACs) or Application Support Centers (ASCs – in the US) re-opening, IRCC has changed the biometric collection component of study permit applications.

With Visa Application Centers (VACs) or Application Support Centers (ASCs – in the US) re-opening, IRCC has changed the biometric collection component of study permit applications. Students who applied for their study permit before April 12, 2021, will no longer be given automatic deadline extensions for their biometric collection. Once your local VAC/ASC opens, IRCC will send you a final letter to request your biometrics.

You will need to respond within 30 days from the date of the letter. IRCC recommends that you try to book an appointment before you receive your letter from them, as appointment bookings fill up quickly.

Note: IRCC strongly discourages travelling to another country or region to give your biometrics. Be patient and wait for a VAC/ASC to open up in your area.

If, for some reason, you are unable to give biometrics, you may use the IRCC WebForm to write to them and let them know why you cannot make your appointment/give your biometrics.
