Part meal and part performance art, this event gathers together students and faculty around a table of sculptural (and scavenged) foods.

The Materiality Meal will ask questions about the sustainability of products we use on campus, and how institutional changes can be made to better our planet.

Come by the table to eat, enjoy, and converse about sustainable practices. Being present is being supportive!

Materiality Meal is one of three events aiming to empower the public to reduce their resource consumption by 30 per cent, and demand that their leaders do the same.

“Climate Action! Action! Action!” is a project organized by students at Emily Carr meant to engage our local community in response to the current global climate crisis. The three initiatives that make up the project–a letter writing workshop, a materiality meal, and a climate cut–allow the public to participate in tangible change, as we investigate how decisions to protect and preserve the planet are made at an institutional and governmental level. In the culminating event happening on March 30th, we are offering “climate cuts” to collect hair donations for Matter Of Trust, an initiative based in San Francisco already in motion to pull harmful oil out of our west coast waters.
