Confidential personal counselling and therapy services are available free of charge to enrolled ECU students.
Mental and emotional health is defined not by the absence of problems, but by how we cope with them. Counselling is a healthy way to deal with life's pressures. Students seek counselling for a variety of reasons, including:
- anxiety and/or depression
- difficulties with school
- suicidal thoughts
- relationship difficulties
- low self-esteem
- or other reasons of your own
Counselling Services gives students an opportunity to speak and be heard, as well as to gain clarity and an objective perspective on their situations. Through Counselling, students learn healthy ways (such as skills and strategies) to deal with their stressors.
What to expect
The first appointment is an intake session to identify concerns, followed by 1 - 2 sessions to understand the situation and approximately 3 -8 sessions to help find direction, strategies and resolution.
